Uğur İbrahim Altay

Mayor, Konya Metropolitan Municipality

Ugur Ibrahim Altay was born in Konya in 1974. He completed his primary education in Selcuk Primary School (1985) and Mevlana Secondary School (1988), and his high school education in Konya Gazi High School (1991).

In 1997, he graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering at Selcuk University Faculty of Engineering and Architecture.

Ugur Ibrahim Altay served as Project Engineer for one year. In 1999, he completed his military service in SIRNAK as reserve officer for the 263rd term. Altay, as a civil engineer, has carried out a lot of qualified projects.

Ugur İbrahim Altay served as the Deputy Chairman of the TMMOB (Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects) Chamber of Civil Engineers of Konya Branch between 2004- 2008. In 2008, he was elected as Chief of Konya Branch of Chamber of Civil Engineers of TMMOB.

Ugur Ibrahim Altay, who was elected as the Mayor of Selcuklu Municipality with the elections of March 29, 2009, was elected as the Mayor of Selcuklu Municipality for the 2nd time with the elections of 30 March 2014.

He was elected as Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality on May 03, 2018 by Metropolitan Municipality Council.

In 31 March 2019, he has been re-elected as the Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality, getting 72% of votes.

Beside of being Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality, he carries out other duties, such as:

• President of Union of Turkish World Municipalities

• Co-President of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG)

• Vice Chairman of the League of Historical Cities-LHC

• Member of the Board of the Organization of Islamic Capitals and Cities (OICC)

• President of the Union of Municipalities of Anatolian Civilizations

• President of Union of Konya Municipalities

Ugur Ibrahim Altay is married with three children.
