Shannon McDaniel

Director of Data Strategy, The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy for Climate Alliance

Dr. Shannon McDaniel is the Director of Data Strategy for the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy.

Dr. McDaniel’s research has included climate change, nuclear sciences, virology, engineering of detectors for public spaces, to pioneering and award-winning research on ice using neutron scattering. Prior to joining the Global Covenant, she was an independent consultant in scientific and technical analysis, focusing on identifying cutting-edge technologies for government agencies and data management for Fortune 500 companies resulting in licensing leads for SMEs. Currently, as the Director of Data Strategy at the Global Covenant, Dr. McDaniel guides the development of the data platform for cities as well as analyzing the data to amplify the effects of climate action by cities. She received a PhD in Earth and Space Sciences from the University of Washington in 2005.
