Özgür Bingöl

Assoc. Prof. of Architecture, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University

He was born in Zonguldak in 1975. He graduated from Mimar Sinan University, Department of Architecture in 1998 and completed his master's degree in 2001 with his work on mass housing architecture and his PhD in 2007 with his study on the concept of type in architecture. He has been working as a faculty member at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Architecture since 2000 and teaches architectural design and planning. His research interests include mass housing planning, social housing production, urban space and urban design. In addition to numerous awards and honourable mention degrees in architectural design and urban design competitions, he has carried out many jury duties. Together with his colleague and co-worker İlke Barka, he is the co-founder of Bingöl Barka Architecture & Consultancy (BBMD), where he has conducted his works and studies since 2000. The general framework of his work is centred on the relationship between architecture and the city and focuses on the relationship between theory and practice. In addition to the production of mass housing, industrial, cultural and public administrative structures, he has numerous projects developed within the scope of research projects and design competitions on urban issues.
