Murat Aydın

Mayor, Beykoz Municipality

He was born in 1960 in Bozat town in Piraziz district of Giresun. He graduated from Istanbul Imam Hatip High School in 1980 and Istanbul University, Faculty of Business Administration in 1985. He completed his master's degree at Istanbul University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Finance with his thesis on “Different Approaches in Local Governments and Social Municipality Practices”.

He won the local elections of 1999, 2004, 2009 and 2014 and was elected as the Mayor of Zeytinburnu four times, three of which were from the AK Party. He was elected as Mayor of Beykoz in 2019 local elections.

Mr. Aydın is the President of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities and the Deputy Chairman of Turkey Photo Foundation. He has engaged with photography for many years and has two photo exhibitions.

Mr. Aydın speaks English and is married with two children.
