Halil İbrahim Düzenli

Vide Dean of School of Architecture and Design, İstanbul Şehir University

Dr. Duzenli, a graduate of Karadeniz Technical University, Trabzon, Turkey (B. Arch.-2000), and KTU (M. Arch.-2005, Ph. D-2009), was the assistant professor of history and theory of architecture-city at Mardin Artuklu University (Mardin-Turkey) and Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University (İstanbul-Turkey) (2009-2018). Presently, he holds same position at Istanbul Sehir University in Istanbul.

His field of interest are Architectural historiography, 16-17th century Ottoman architecture, architecture in the İslamic world, urban history (Trabzon, Mardin, İstanbul), Turgut Cansever the architect, Ufki şehir/Horizontal city. His dissertations are “The Analyses of Form Function Technology and Meaning in Turgut Cansever’s Projects in the Context of Architectural Autonomy and Civilisational Self-Perception” (M. Arch), “Mehmed Agha the Architect and His World: A Study on 16th - 17th centuries Ottoman Mental Structures and Architecture in the context of Risâle-i Mi‘mâriyye” (Ph. D.). He is the author and/or editor of 7 books/publications in Turkish: An Architectural Experience: Syncretistic Settlements in Trabzon and Sarajevo (editor, Nuans Publ., 2007), Perception and Construction: Two Faces of Architecture of Turgut Cansever (Klasik Publ., 2009), TALID special issue on History of Turkish Architecture (editor, Foundation for Science and Arts Publ., 2009), The Urban Heritage of Trabzon: Place-Building-Meaning (editor with Ö.
