Gaye Doğanoğlu

Vice President, Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe

Having graduated from Ankara T.E.D. College and then from the Department of Italian Language and Literature at Ankara University, Faculty of Language and History, Gaye Doğanoğlu received her master's degree from Perugia University in Italy.

She worked as a senior executive in the tourism sector and was awarded the Adelaide Ristori Medal by the Italian Government in 1990 for her successful contributions to Italian and Turkish culture. She served as Honorary Consul General of Italy in Antalya between the years 1991 and 1998.

She served as a Council Member of Muratpaşa Municipality for three terms between 1994-2014 and then as a Council Member of Antalya Konyaaltı Municipality. She became the General Manager of ANSET Ltd., one of the participating companies of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality in 2016. She was also a member of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) in Turkey and Member of the International Affairs Committee of the of the Union of Municipalities in Turkey.

In the capacity of rapporteur of the European Charter of Local Self-Government, she has reported on the local democracies of such countries as Azerbaijan, Serbia, Albania, Montenegro, Georgia, Andorra and Slovenia.

As of 1994, she has been assigned by the Ministry of Interior to represent Turkey at the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe consisting of 47 member states. She is currently the Vice President of the Congress and is fluent in English and Italian.
