Fikret Toksöz

Fikret Toksöz, after the graduation from the Faculty of Political Science in Ankara joined in public service in the Ministry of Interior and worked as district governor in various district. He got his master degree on public administration from the Public Administration Institute in Ankara. Later he got his second master degree from the University of Manchester in England. He became the deputy mayor of Ankara. Following this job he worked in the Ministry of Local Governments as under secretary.

During military regime after the coup d'etat in 1980 he was forced to resign from public service. Consequently, he started to work in civil society area. He worked as secretary general of the Union of the Municipaliites of the Marmara Region. in the meantime he gave the lessons on urban governance in the Yıldız Technical University in Istanbul. He worked as coordinator, key expert or consultant in many projects which supported by EU, World Bank and UNDP. He has some books on local government, civil society and governance.
