Fatma Kaplan Hürriyet

Mayor, Izmit Municipality

Born in 1982, she graduated from Kocaeli University Faculty of Law in 2004 and is currently studying for her Master’s degree in Private Law at Kocaeli University Institute of Social Sciences. She worked as a self-employed lawyer of Kocaeli Bar Association and served as the chair of Kocaeli Provincial Women's Branch, the chair of Izmit District and also in Kocaeli İzmit District Labor Commission.

She was a member of Kocaeli İzmit Organizing Commission and served as a neighbourhood representative. She was elected as a parliamentary of Kocaeli on June 7th, 2015 and became a member of the Equal Opportunities Commission for Women and Men at the 25th term. On November 1, 2015, she was re-elected as a parliamentary of Kocaeli. She served as a secretary in the 26th term of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and as a member of the Constitutional Commission at the 26th. She was elected as a secretary of the 27th term Grand National Assembly Presidency Council. She is a member of numerous associations and NGOs and speaks English.
